The Bulgarian Federation of Speleology, The National Museum Earth and Man and The National Natural History Museum under the patronage of the State Agency for Youth and Sports invite you to the International Symposium ”80 years organised caving and speleology in Bulgaria” that will take place in Sofia on 19-20 March 2009.

Dear colleagues,

We have the pleasure to invite you to take part at the Jubilee International Symposium ”80 years organised saving and speleology in Bulgaria” which will be held from 19-20 March 2009 in Sofia as a part of the National Celebration of the 80 Years of organised speleology in Bulgaria.

Congres themes
1.History of Bulgarian speleology – organization, international relations, explorations expeditions
2.Geological, Geomophological, Hydrogeological and other studies on Karst and caves in Bulgaria and in Balkan Peninsula
3.Biological studies in the Karst and Caves
4.Paleontological and arhaelogical studies in Karst
5.Speleological documentation and Cave surveying.

Applications
Those who intend to take part must to send the attached application form followed by a brief summary (200 words) of each article not later than October, 30 2008.
Please note that the final full version of your reports should be presented to the organizers not later than 15 December 2008. The collection with the materials from the symposium will be published in advance and distributed to the regular full participants.

Participation Fees:
1. Full members – they could present reports and receive the printed materials from the conference – 30 Euro;
2. Young scientific workers, students and school pupils – they could present reports and receive the printed materials from the conference - 15 Euro.

The Symposium will take place in the town of Sofia , from March 19 th to 20th, 2009, in the National Museum Earth and Man - Sofia".

14. 00 – 16. 00: Opening of the Symposium, and Introductory lectures
16.00 – 16.30: coffee break
16.30 – 19.00: second session
March 20th (Friday)
10.00 – 12.30: Morning session
15.00 – 19.00: Afternoon session

Presentation of papers
Presentation of the papers will be either in English or in Bulgarian language.
The authors will have 15 minutes for the presentation, and 5 minutes will be for the discussion.
Power point presentations should be submitted to the organizers at the registration desk, on a CD or USB flash memory drive, in order to check the technical preparation and solving of possible problems.
The technical support provided for the presentation of papers will be: video beam, overhead projector, slide projector.
 

Preparation of the text is given as a appendix of the present circular :
Before the Publishing of Symposium Proceedings, the Scientific Committee will analyse the presented papers and inform the authors whether their paper will be pub-lished.
If the papers are not prepared according to the instructions, they will be published only as abstracts.
